Welcome to Fryksås Hotel & Gestgifveri

The pasture

The hotel is situated in one of Sweden’s oldest and largest summer pastures, dating back to the 16th century when the farmers of Bonäs village started bringing their cattle up the hill to graze in the woods during summer. Today, the village has some 150 original timber cottages that create a beautiful and peaceful environment.

Tourists found their way to Fryksås at the end of the 19th century. They were enchanted by the village, and the growing interest enabled new opportunities to open boarding houses and eateries. The transition from old to new created the exciting blend of traditional and modern that you will find in Fryksås today.

The hotel

The family-run hotel has welcomed tourists and locals since the 1930s when it was built by the successful entrepreneur Anders Frelin, after having started Storå Brewery as well as Frelins Konditori (bakery and coffee shop). Since the opening, the hotel's restaurant has been a natural meeting place for the people of Fryksås and Orsa.
